Career and Life Coach

How long have you been a Certified Career Counselor, and how did you get started with this specialty?

I’ve provided career and life guidance to private clients for twenty years. It started thirty years ago, when I became a career changer and experienced the difficulties of starting over in a new field. Determined to use my own experiences to pave a smoother road for other career and job changers, I’ve made it my mission to help as many people as possible find and land their dream jobs.

What are some professional positions you’ve held as a Certified Career Counselor?

My experience as a Certified Career Counselor includes a position as Online/Distance Career Counselor for ReadyMinds, an Online/Distance Career Counselor for My Personal Job Coach, and a Career Counselor for the Job Search Program for retiring Foreign Service Officers at the Department of State in Washington, D.C., a Career Counselor at the US State Department’s Career Recourse Center, and a Career Counselor at US Census Bureau.

Who are some of your clients?

Throughout the years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with executives, scientists, administrative personnel, political appointees, career changers, and all levels of managers, supervisors, and staff. I’ve offered career advice and assistance to employees of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the US Department of State, the US Department of Treasury, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Defense Security Service, AT&T, Bell Atlantic, Southern Corp, and Census, along with numerous small businesses and other agencies. I have provided Outplacement Services for the State Department, Treasury, Defense Security Services, and the Bureau of the Census.

Does it matter if you haven’t worked with people in my industry?

Not a bit! The techniques I’ve discovered along the way to discover a person’s ideal job and then set out to achieve their innermost career goals can be applied to various positions within any industry.

What type of results can I expect by working with you?

You can expect objective feedback on your current job and your job hunting strategies, as well as suggestions on how to set and achieve your career and life goals. You can expect to gain a healthier work/life balance, an improved performance at work, stronger communications with colleagues and management, and step-by-step help with developing the job and life that you both desire and deserve.

If we choose to get started, how will we work together?

Ideally, we will meet in person for our career counseling sessions. If you’re not able to meet with me face-to-face, however, we’ll connect through telephone sessions, email, realtime chat, and Skype. As one of the few National Board Certified Career Counselors (NCCC) who has trained with the ReadyMinds Distance counseling credentialing team, I can deliver the same great results using the latest technologies, such as those mentioned above. That means that we can work together whether you’re stuck in your office across town or are headquartered across the nation.

What type of programs or services do you offer?

Please see our Services page for information about our comprehensive list of career counseling services.

What type of education and certifications qualify you to help me?

My education includes a Master’s Degree in Adult Learning from Virginia Tech, Post-Masters Courses in Counseling from George Mason University’s School for Leadership, A Certificate from the Coaches Training Institute for completion of Coaches Training, and a Certificate in Distance Counseling from ReadyMinds.

My certifications include:

  • National Board Certified Master Career Counselor, MCC
  • National Certified Career Counselor, NCCC

Absolutely! I hold myself to the NBCC Code of Ethics, which can be found at http://www.nbcc.org/AssetManagerFiles/ethics/internetCounseling.pdf, The Code of Ethics of the American Counseling Association, and the Code of Ethics of Professional Certified Counselors.

I’m interested in finding more fulfillment in my career, but I’m just not sure if these programs are right for me. Can I contact you to learn more?
